The Khalos Box.
A dedicated streaming appliance that sits next to your setup and handles the hard parts. Capture, mix, go live everywhere, and come out with clips.
The Khalos Box started with a bad day. I was running the King of the Block tournament at Black on the Block, out of a gaming truck, on one of the hottest days LA had all year. Mid-tournament, my streaming PC overheated.
I had a backup ready and kept the stream on air. But the backup wasn't set up to record. The live show went fine. The recording didn't make it.
The Khalos Box is the machine I wish I'd had that day: set up right every time, live everywhere at once, and always recording.
As technology progresses, as will I.
Khadeem Thomas · Senior quote, Class of 2010
Khadeem Thomas.
Gaming is how I learned technology. Hooking up consoles, chasing signal problems, and figuring out why something wouldn't connect turned into a career spent in the field.
Before live production, I worked oil fields, solar sites, backup power, and robotics. That's where I learned to troubleshoot with a meter in hand and no room for mistakes. I bring the same approach to every show.
I started Khalos Media in March 2020, when live events moved online overnight. Since then I've technical directed shows, conferences, and tournaments, and helped actors and creators set up their streams, grow their audiences, and land brand deals.
Day to day, I'm the lead AV technician at The Lighthouse, Whalar's creator campus in Venice, a members-only space where podcasters, YouTubers, and filmmakers book studios to shoot. I keep those studios production-ready and support the creators using them:
- CamerasBuilds, framing, and multicam setups
- AudioMic placement and checks before every session
- LightingSetting and adjusting looks for each shoot
- TeleprompterLoading scripts and running prompter live
